Alpacas of Troy

Alpacas of Troy is run by the Suchland family and located about an hour north of St. Louis in eastern Missouri.  The farm is home to about 40 alpacas, along with three Great Pyrenees and some fainting goats, pigs, chickens, and horses. The primary focus is on the production of yarn and felted and knitted products, all of which are made from the alpaca fiber grown and spun on the farm.

Over the years, the Suchlands have realized that nature has created many natural balances that work hand in hand with each other.  While alpacas are our primary herd animal, the goats, pigs, chickens, horses, and guardian dogs all serve very important roles in protecting the farm’s fluffy residents.  What may seem a random collection is in fact a fine example of nature’s balanced system.

The Suchlands welcome visitors for tours by appointment, offers classes, and participate in regional farmers’ markets.
